is Director ERDC. He has specialized in Educational
Psychology. He has over thirty children's books
and teachers' courses to his credit as author or
editor. Conducted hundreds of training workshops
for teachers, trainers, school heads, parents and
students all over the country in association with
several public and private institutions. Worked
for International Reading Association, Save the
Children UK, Sindh Textbook Board, SPELT, Paramount
Books Pvt. Ltd., US-AID, Iqbal Academy Pakistan,
and World Bank Educational Project in Balochistan.
He has also received the award for professional
excellence from government of Pakistan. |

Zubair Husain Shaikh
is the author of presidential award winning series
Mera Iqbal and co-author of a number of books
for children. He is known for his innovative teaching
methods and strategies for teaching Urdu language
and Early Childhood Education. He has an extensive
experience of conducting teacher-training programs
in urban and rural areas of Pakistan. He has worked
on different projects of development, training,
and evaluation with Sindh Textbook Board, Aga
Khan Education Service, Pakistan and Iqbal Academy
Pakistan. He works at ERDC as Project Manager.

Kanwal Laeeq is Project
Manager and Master Trainer at ERDC. She is the author
of a series of Science books published by Sindh
Textbook Board and co-author of a series of teacher
resource books. She holds a Masters degree in Zoology
from University of Karachi. She has completed the
Master Teachers' Course from TDC in 2003 and has
participated in several national and international
conferences and training courses. She has conducted
several workshops for teachers of primary to secondary
level. She has also worked as curriculum coordinator
at Haq Foundation School Karachi. |

Rizwana
Ghafoor is a Project Officer at
ERDC. She has been teaching Islamiat at different
levels and has developed Islamiat curriculum for
preprimary and primary classes. She is the author
of Islamiat textbooks published by Noorani Publishers
and is currently working as author on Fehmul Quran
workbook series. She has also conducted training
workshops for teachers of Islamiat. She is also
developing the Islamiat curriculum for The MI school.

Zareena Bano is a Project Officer at ERDC. She has worked as author and reviewer of STB Elementary Science Books and Starters’ Curriculum Pack and is currently working on the development of preprimary teachers’ resource. She has also attended several national and international programs on teaching and education. She is a trained preprimary teacher and has introduced innovative ideas of teaching in preprimary classes as Pre-primary Facilitator. She holds a Masters degree in Bio-technology from University of Karachi. |

Abbas Hussain |

Abbas Hussain
is Director, Teachers' Development Centre. He has
trained over 8000 teachers all over Pakistan. He
has an M.A in literature and M.Ed. (Teaching English
to Speakers of Other Languages) from Manchester
University UK. He has received professional training
at the universities of Toronto, Pittsburgh, Louisville
and Chicago. He is one of the founder members of
SPELT and has published widely in national and international
journals. He is the author of Islamiyat books published
by Oxford University Press. He is known nationwide
as an articulate advocate of the intellectual authority
of teachers in society. |

Tabassum Razi  |

Tabassum Razi is a teacher-researcher.
She is a Masters in English Linguistics and specializes
in teaching writing. Her other areas of research
are English language learning and teaching in Pakistan,
developing literacy in young children and teacher
training. She has participated in various international
conferences of Society of Pakistan English Language
Teachers (SPELT) and Centre of English Language,
Aga Khan University and has conducted workshops
and training programmes for different schools and
institutions like Teachers' Development Centre (TDC)
and ERDC. She has also served as faculty at National
University of Modern Languages (NUML). |

Bushra Ahmed Khurram is
a panelist on the Aga Khan University Examination
Board and also teaches linguistics at the University
of Karachi. She holds Masters in English Linguistics
and English Literature from Karachi University.
She has been the Academic Coordinator of SPELT and
the Master Trainer at Teachers' Development Centre.
She specializes in training courses based on practical
activities for Language Teachers in Pakistani classrooms.
She has conducted workshops for Paramount Books
Pvt. Ltd, State Bank of Pakistan, Karachi Water
and Sewerage Board, ORIX Leasing Company, Elli Lilly
Pharmaceutical Company and Taseer Hadi and Khalid.

Shameer Ali Prasla holds
double Masters degree in Biotechnology from University
of Karachi and another from Allama Iqbal Open University
in the discipline of Teachers' Education. Presently
serving as an Academic Officer at Academy Al-Azhar
Garden, and Environmental Education Consultant for
World Conservation Union-IUCN. He has vast experience
of teaching Science and Maths from school to university.
He has conducted several training workshops for
teachers on concept building of Science and Mathematics.
At ERDC, Mr. Prasla is serving as Master Trainer
and reviewer of textbooks. |

Ishrat Mateen |

Mrs. Ishrat Mateen has
a vast experience in the field of education not
only in Pakistan, but also abroad. She has worked
as principal of renowned and reputed schools for
over two decades and has contributed tremendously
to the cause of education in Pakistan. Her passion
for raising the standards of teaching in Pakistan
has made her a Master Trainer. Has a dynamic and
charismatic personality. She has been conducting
workshops for several years on various subjects
and has a special expertise in the area of school
management. She uses dynamism and most modern strategies

Rasheeda Murtaza is working

Hina Hussain
Kazmi has completed her PhD in linguistics with
special focus on pedagogical grammar. After acquiring
degrees in English Literature and Linguistics from
Karachi University she went to University of Brighton,
England to pursue for TEFL Update course. In the
rich background of teacher trainings, she has World
Bank Middle School Project at her credit. Her training
platform is extended from school, college and university
teachers and professors to the instructors of PAF
Base Korangi Creek, Karachi. During her ten year
long association with SPELT she got the chance to
present in the International Conferences in Karachi
and Islamabad. Recently she is attached with HEC
as Master Trainer. |

Saulat Majid
is currently working as a visiting faculty at the
Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture and
a master trainer at Fatmiyah Education Network.
She also worked as a foreign language assistant
for the Glasgow City Council in Scotland, and developed
language resource material for Scottish Qualification
Authority. She has also taught at the NED University,
Bahria College Karachi and Tabani's School of Accountancy.
She has done her ICELT from Cambridge University
UK, and her MTC from TDC. She has also worked as
a free lance trainer for SPELT, TDC, ERDC, Tejani
Consultancies etc. |

Fareed Ahmed is CEO Language
Masters, has an MBA in Marketing, a Master Teacher's
Course from Teachers' Development Centre, is 4thD
Graduate and Silva Graduate from Institute of Mind
Sciences. He is presently associated with TDC as
a training coordinator and has conducted various
workshops for teachers and students of many schools.
He has 13 years of teaching experience of English
as a language, grammar, business writing, TOEFL
and IELTS. He has trained business personnel of
multinational organizations like Tapal Tea, Getz
Pharma, Feroze Textiles, Philips Electronics, etc.

Rumana Husain  |
| |
A graduate of the Central Institute
of Arts and Crafts (CIAC), Karachi, Rumana Husain
studied television direction and production at the
Nova Scotia Institute of Technology in Halifax,
Canada. She is co-founder and Senior Editor of an
international art magazine in English called NuktaArt.
She regularly contributes articles to daily Dawn
on visual and performing arts, travels, etc. She
was Headmistress and later Vice Principal at The
C.A.S School for ten years. In 1988 she co-founded
the Book Group, a publishing house for Urdu books
for children. She has authored and/or illustrated
nearly forty books and dozens of teacher's guides.
She has served as a consultant to numerous training
institutes in Pakistan, including the Teacher's
Resource Centre (TRC), Aga Khan Institute of Educational
Development (IED), Karachi, Balochistan Model Teacher
Training Centre, Quetta and the Ali Institute, Lahore.
Since 2001, she has been involved as Head, Activism
and Outreach, at the Children's Museum for Peace
and Human Rights (CMPHR). |

Arwa Khuzaima
has taken her basic education from East Africa.
She has specialized at Early Childhood Education
from The Kindergarten Headmistress Association in
England. She also did her MTC from Teachers Development
Centre. She has also won several poetry competitions
at national levels. She has over 19 years of experience
in teaching ECE classes both here and abroad at
MSB Educational Institute. She has trained over
700 teachers in the last one year in the fields
of ESL and ECE. |

Wahid Usmani has done his PhD in Standardized
Testing and aslo holds MA in English Language and
Literature. He has been involved in Teacher Education

sector since 1998. He has worked as a resource person
for Education Department Govt. of Sindh, SPELT and
COMMECS. As adjunct faculty member, he conducts
diploma programme for teachers and trainers offered
by Cambridge University, UK and has also taught
different MA language and literature courses at
National University of Modern Languages. He is associated
with Dow University where he is involved in designing
and conducting ELT courses for the professionals
