ERDC offered five training workshops in January 2009,
attended by 154 personnel from 65 institutions.

Darsi Sabaq ki Tayyari
Creative Drama
was a two-day (6 hours) workshop held on January 14 & 15, 2009. 25
teachers from 9 institutions participated in the workshop. This
workshop was led by Ms Rumana Husain, a renowned artist and visiting
faculty ERDC. The workshop was a unique opportunity for language
teachers of pre-primary and primary grades to learn how to promote
creative expression in classrooms. It included dramatic play, story
enactment, imagination journeys and theatre games.
Teach Speech was a two-days (7
hours) workshop held on January 17 & 19, 2009. 29 teachers from 13
institutions participated in the workshop. This workshop was led by
Ms Saulat Majid, visiting faculty ERDC. The workshop was an
opportunity for English language teachers of primary and secondary
grades to learn how to develop speaking skills of students. It
included a battery of activities on oral communication skills and
ready to apply classroom tips.
Darsi Sabaq ki Tayyari: Zindagi se
bharpoor sabaq ka lutf uthaaein was a three-days (9 hours) workshop held on January 21 - 23, 2009.
35 teachers from 17 institutions participated in the workshop. This
workshop was led by Mr. Zubair Sheikh, Project Manager ERDC. THE
Urdu teachers to make effective and pleasurable lessons.
Work Smart! Organize your workplace
was a two-day (6 hours) workshop held on January 24 & 26, 2009.
34 teachers from 17 institutions participated in the workshop. This
workshop was led by Ms Ishrat Mateen, visiting faculty ERDC.A
workshop to build a strong and systematic induction program for a
smooth workplace.
Every Child is
Creative was a
one-day (3 hours) workshop held on January 31 & 19, 2009. 29
teachers from 12 institutions participated in the workshop. This
workshop was led by Larysa Gul, visiting faculty ERDC . A workshop
for teachers to tap children’s hidden dimensions. Learn how to
nurture imaginative and creative children.

1st
module of Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course,
Winter Program 2008 concluded in January.
The
ongoing 9th batch of Winter Program has reached its second module –
The Contents of Teaching. The last two course units of the 1st
module were offered in January as per the course plan. Ms Kanwal
Laeeq, Project Manager and Master Trainer of ERDC led the course
unit Art & Craft and Ms Tabassum Razi, Visiting Faculty ERDC
conducted the course unit English Skills Development. The Art and
Craft unit concluded on the display of theme boards prepared by the
participants. A self assessment test of English language proficiency
was introduced in English Skills Development unit to help
participants measure their learning.

Bulandi
Leadership Camp organized by ERDC at
Carlton Hotel for Delta Educational Trust.
On the request of
Delta Educational Trust, ERDC organized a full day off-site Camp at
the Carlton Hotel on Sunday, the 11th of Jan 2009 for the
Management and Board of Governors of Bulandi School Project.
Bulandi School – a project of Delta is a merger of three government
schools and is under consultancy of ERDC. The motto of the camp was
Leadership, Team bonding & Change.
There were seven
participants from Bulandi Project and three facilitators from ERDC
in the program. The program was led by Ms Kanwal Laeeq, Project
Manager ERDC. Other two facilitators were Mr Salman Asif Siddiqui,
Director ERDC and Ms Amna Meher, Master Trainer ERDC. The program
included leadership games, team building activities and an
inspirational movie. The keen involvement in the motivational
exercises and collaborative strategies by the integrated project
leaders is promising for the future of Bulandi School Project.

ERDC conducted workshops on Reading Skills for Advance Religious
Education Unit ITREB – Aga Khan Foundation
On
the request of ITREB, ERDC conducted full-day workshops on Reading
Skills for two separate groups of participants of Advance Religious
Education Unit (ARE). ARE is the initiative of Ismaili Tareeqa
Religious Education Board (ITREB). The participants of the program
are the faculty of Religious Education Centres located in different
parts of Sindh and Balochistan.
The workshops were held on two
Sundays, 18th & 25th January, 2009 at Aga Khan
College, Karimabad. Both the workshops were conducted by Mr. Salman
Asif Siddiqui, Director ERDC and each attended by a group of 65
participants. The workshops introduced the strategies of efficient
reading and offered practical activities to exercise critical
reading skills.
