Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course is the most important initiative of ERDC to equip teachers with the latest professional tools and provide them with a strong intellectual foundation.

The six month training program has helped many teachers to explore new possibilities. Many of the graduates of this course are now serving the field of education as school leaders, associate trainers and authors.

Professional Teachers’ Certificate Course is a six month comprehensive training program for teachers of pre-school to grade 8, per-service teachers and management personnels.

Two training programs are offered each year; summer program and winter program. Participants of the course are selected on the basis of their academic record and interviews. ERDC offers 'After Course Support' to the graduates of this course.

• To inculcate true values and vision of education in teachers
• To equip teachers with the latest and effective approaches of teaching
• To prepare teachers for the modern challenges in the field of school education

The course offers five areas for specialization:

• English Language Teaching
• Urdu Language Teaching
• Teaching of Math
• Teaching of Science
• Early Childhood Education

Participants decide their area of specialization at the start of the course. The course introduces the needs and demands of all subjects and the connection of teaching approaches between them.

The course is organized in 3 modules arranged in 50 sessions each of three hours.

1. Module 1: The Teaching-learning Process
2. Module 2: The Content of Teaching
3. Module 3: The Tools of Teaching

Each module is further divided in to units.

Module 1: The Teaching-learning Process focuses on the fundamentals of learning and teaching and serves as the foundation of the course.

The units of this module are:

• Orientation
• Courage to teach
• Early Childhood Education
• Art and craft
• English Skills Development

Module 2: The Contents of Teaching introduces the rationales of different teaching subjects and their unique instructional demands.

The units of this module are:

• English Language Teaching
• Urdu Language Teaching
• Teaching of Maths
• Teaching of Science
• Teaching of Social Studies
• Teaching of Islamiyat

Module 3: The Tools of Teaching equips teachers with the professional skills needed to ensure effective and quality education.

The units of this module are:

• Instructional Planning
• Classroom Management
• Assessment
• Presentations
• Concluding Thoughts

Special features of this course are the scheme of interactive activities, books and manuals, practical assignments, reflective journal, specialized projects, books reviews, presentations, field trip, group tasks and tutorials. All the graduates of this course are eligible for ERDC “After Course Support”.

For the graduates of PTCC different sessions are arranged with experts and professionals to highlight current issues of teaching and education and to give their solutions. The forum helps these graduates exercise their true potentials, explore new horizons and enrich their learning.

PTCC is primarily intended for the ambitious teachers of pre-school to grade 8 and enthusiastic candidates of teaching. The program also benefits school heads and coordinators to deepen their understanding on school education.

Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in any field. Those who are waiting for their results may also apply

Candidates are requested to obtain an admission form and prospectus from the ERDC Office between 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Eligible candidates will have to fill in the admission form and submit it by the due date to the ERDC office along with the required attachments.

After initial screening, candidates will be invited for an interview. Successful candidates will be confirmed about their admissions in the course through letters of confirmation after their interviews.

Below are the attachments that are required with the admission form:

• A recent passport size photograph of the candidate
• A copy of the CNIC
• A copy of the last marks sheet
• Fee (refundable in case of admission failure)

Course fee is Rs. 17,000/- per participant for the complete program. The fee includes course material, refreshments and certificates. No other fee is charged.

The course consists of total 150 contact hours that are arranged in 50 sessions, spread over a period of six months. The sessions are held twice a week on Saturdays and Tuesdays. Duration of each session is three hours. The timings are from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Hours of self study and group work are not included in this time.
